Snowy Owl
by Ronnie Holland
In the cold he waits and watches peacefully,
Certain of the outcome.
Across the field, a rapid movement.
One last, terrified glance back
As wings unfurl and prey becomes a meal.
Snowy Owl
by Victoria Emmons
Blanched by time
Marked by flight
Snowy Owl
In the night
Feel the cold
Of your wings
Blend with snow
Ice and things
Eyes that see
Beyond the hills
Swoop to prey
Just for thrills
See you soar
Above so high
Wise old man
Watch you fly
Snowy Owl
by Paula Chinick
Oh wise old owl
Perched high above alone at night
You hoot and screech and click your beak
What do you seek?
Oh wise old owl
Large amber eyes pursue around
Majestic and mysterious
What do you seek?
Oh wise old owl
Athenian goddess of birds
Worshiped and scorned and feared
What do you seek?
A rabbit, a rodent, a squirrel….what else.
Snowy Owl
by Camille DeFer Thompson
Steady, piercing gaze
Locks on unsuspecting prey;
Unmoving, waiting.
Bird View
by Julaina Kleist-Corwin
Snowy Owl eyes
Predator’s skill, worldly wise
Have we passed the test?
Snowy Owl
by Jordan Bernal
Snowy owl so bright
Wide awake throughout the night
Do you blink your eyes?
Snowy White Owl
by Linda Todd
Oh snowy white owl
With splashes of black
What do you see
With your brown
And gold eye?
My body lies
Before you
Ravaged and broken
Do you see
My pain?
Hear my cries
In the night?
Do you feel
My loneliness?
Oh snowy white owl
Can you heal me?
This Owl
by Lani Longshore
this owl
want dark
want cold
want snow
this owl
want sky
to hunt
to dream
this owl
don’t need no pussycat
Eye
by Diane Lovitt
Piercing, focused eye
Camouflaged in the darkness
Sees the hidden prey
