Hummingbird Tree
by Linda Todd
Meet me at the hummingbird tree
We’ll sit on the bench
And picnic on our knees
Meet me at the hummingbird tree
I’ll bring the crackers
And you’ll bring the brie
Meet me at the hummingbird tree
We’ll clink our glasses
And toast you and me
Meet me at the hummingbird tree
I’ll tell you stories
And you’ll laugh with me
Meet me at the hummingbird tree
You’ll sing me a song
And I’ll sing with thee
Meet me at the hummingbird tree
We’ll kiss each other
And our hearts will leap
Garden
by Camille DeFer Thompson
First, quiet repose
Soon buzzing wings surround me
Sharp beaks seek nectar
Hummingbird Tree
by Julaina Kleist-Corwin
I planted one, two, three
Hummingbird trees
On the hill in my backyard.
Young and thin,
No strong trunks like this one.
No rich leaves.
I left them when I moved.
I wonder
Will they grow big with color,
Like this one?
May I sit on the bench
Close to yours
And dream mine are pretty?
Hear the flutter of wings.
Circling me
Moving the red full leaves.
Small species
Hover near and whisper,
“Yours will be.”
Hummingbird Tree

Trees bold with color
Hummingbirds seek sweet nectar
Spring is in the air
Red
by Diane Lovitt
Why do they love red?
Is it irresistible
For nectar slurping?
